I thought it might be a controller probllem, but it looks like a motherboard probllem. Have you looked at the manual? there are lots of ways to hook a USB controller to the USB port if that is the problem.

thank you for the suggestions, i looked at the manual and saw how to hook it up through there. i found it confusing so i went back to google and found the post you linked me to. i am not sure how i would hook it up as i dont have the wireless adapter and the usb port on my laptop does not have a standard USB adapter. i have 2 USB ports and 1 regular port. i could hook it up but i dont know what to do after that. i tried to use the xpadder program that i found but it is not working and i dont know if that is because of my laptop or what. i am using xp on my laptop. i have the Bad Company 2 CD so i am pretty sure i can get the USB controller to work if i can figure out how to do it. thanks again.
